Stomping Wine Grapes

This is how we home made wine makers crush our grapes. First you put the grapes into a nylon straining bag(s) securely tied. Place the bag(s) into a container as shown. Then you sanitize your rubber boots, put them on, and start stomping. My wife is my best and favorite stomper.

This is the beginning of what is going to be a very good blackberry wine when finished, and one of my fans favorite.

Hello Fellow Winemakers,

I have a huge crop of Ison variety Muscadine grapes that are ready to pick right now. I have already frozen over 400 pounds and I am running out of freezer space. If you pick'em they're $1.30 per pound. If we pick'em and wash and freeze them they are $2.00 per pound F.O.B. Willis, Texas (45 miles north of Houston). It takes 30 pounds to make 5 gallons of wine or 6 pounds per gallon.

If you want some of these excellent wine making grapes please email me at winemakingsecrets@gmail.com they will be gone by the end of August.

If you want to learn how to make wine at home I have a book on Amazon that will tell you everything you need to know. Here are the links:

Muscadine Grapes Keep Well in the Freezer - Despite What You Hear

Frozen Muscadine Grapes
Muscadine grapes or vitis rotundifolia is a grapevine species native to the southeastern and south-central United States from Florida to Delaware to my backyard vineyard in south east Texas.

You may hear that muscadine grapes lose their flavor with freezing, but it isn't so. It's another secret the masters won't tell you! Here I have frozen bags, often used in my wine making, maintaining the taste.

A Decade in the Making: From Sentiment to Passion

I started out making home-made wine to carry on a tradition my dad started with his friend years ago. In my book, I talk about a sentiment that grew to a passion and something bigger than I imagined.

The reason I wrote the book is that I wish to save others from trial and errors I went through -- you'll have enough perfecting your own private label brand of wines, so this allows you to get right to the good stuff... creating your brand.

As many of you know, I completed my first book on what I've learned about wine making in the past decade. Available on Amazon

I've received favorable reviews from around the world. I'm now working on my second book about the health benefits I've discovered.

Please join me on this blog and share your wine making experiences. I'm always interested to hear about new techniques and hacks to make better wine!
